Contemporary and Rustic Style,
Centered just beyond the neighborhood’s grand entrance, this Pacific Ridge model home features many of the unique details that Jay Pohlad strategically incorporates into his homes – distinctive fireplace designs, a copper range hood, custom staircase, vaulted ceilings, and timeless wood beams.
Jay started Pohlad Custom Homes with his brother, Richie, in 1997. They focus their efforts on building six to eight new custom homes each year, allowing them to develop personal relationships with homeowners and hone in on the details they believe make a house a home. With a lifelong love for woodworking, Jay uses his creativity alongside homeowners’ visions to create the perfect living space. One peek into this open-concept model and Jay’s passion quickly becomes apparent.
Guests are greeted in the home’s entrance with rich tones and rustic accents—the knotted oak flooring is the perfect base for the light and dark chestnut colored woodwork. To the left of the entryway, the formal/dining space features custom stamped brownish-gold wallpaper that catches the eye and demands a second glance. Kris Patton, ASID from Interiors Joan and Associates, worked with the Pohlads to provide color and decorating influence for the model home. “Kris helped pick out colors and decorative accents like pillows and custom furniture, and I designed the hood vent, things like that,” said Jay. “We have worked with her a lot.”
The rich chestnut colors are carried through into the knotty alder stained kitchen cabinets, and an oxidized copper range hood with small clavos adds a rustic touch to the otherwise contemporary space. The large raised island topped with dark granite is the perfect place for families to gather for casual meals before heading into the adjoining hearth room for conversation, which Jay says can also be used as a second casual dining space. The handmade wood ceiling beams add yet another touch of rustic vibe. “We put detail into everything we do,” said Jay. “And we are able to custom-make a lot of the elements in our homes with the help of our team.”
Two main-level fireplaces feature stone, chestnut stained wood and leather paneling, pieced together to create unique looks. The clavos from the range hood are carried over into the custom leather panels above the fireplace and on the window and double door valences. This cozy space opens up to a covered outdoor deck perfect for warm weather entertaining. The functional mud/laundry room area features a custom-made bench and coat rack, as well as a large storage closet.
The Pohlad brothers, along with their spouses, RE/MAX Results Realtors Sara and Julie, have become a family business team. “Working together definitely works well for us because we all understand the business,” said Jay. “We also all have the same ambition for providing functional homes for families.”
Keeping potential buyers and their needs in mind, this featured home has four second-floor bedrooms, making it perfect for a family with children. Two bedrooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom, and a third bedroom/guest room features a vaulted ceiling and its own adjoining bathroom. These two “hands on” builders create beautiful spaces for everyone in the family to enjoy. The large second-floor master suite is sure to fulfill everything one may have on their wish list, including a large master closet with plentiful shelving and a storage bench, and a spacious master bath finished with spa-like colors and finishes.
This Pacific Ridge model home was not only built in a prime location, it is beautiful in design and will function well for any family—it is one-of-a-kind, as are each of Pohlad’s custom-built homes. To schedule a showing of this home, contact Sara Pohlad with RE/MAX Results at (402) 850-7918.
