Marisa Lowe  |  Age 18  |  Millard West High School

Like many other children in the area, Marisa picked up a basketball as a young girl. Unlike others, the game became more than just a sport, but a passion.

In fourth grade, Marisa moved from playing basketball as a recreational sport to a competitive one. That year, she was selected to play up for the Millart West Lady Cat’s feeder select program. The following summer, she joined the Cornhusker Shooting Stars select team and traveled with them for five years and ultimately moved on to the Nebraska Lasers. During this time, Marisa had many accomplishments including: selection to Chicago’s Windy City Classic All-Star Tournament Team, Denver’s Mountain Madness

All-Star Tournament Team, and South Dakota Showcase Platinum Division 3-Point Percentage Leader, Scoring, and Scoring Percentage Leader teams.

As a high school player, Marisa has been a Varsity starter for four years at Millard West. As a freshman, she made Nebraska’s 3-point season record list with 57 3-pointers as well as the Class A Top 3-point Percentage Stat Leaders list and Millard West’s Top 10 District Scoring Leaders list (16.5 average). She also was selected to multiple Class A Honorable Mentions from the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.

During her sophomore year, Marisa again made the Nebraska’s 3-point season record list with 66 3-pointers and Class A Top 3-point Percentage Stat Leaders list. She was named to the All-Metro Tournament Team and the Class A All-Metro 3rd Team and also helped lead her team to a third place finish in the Class A state tournament.

Marisa’s junior year included another trip to the state tournament and another third place finish. Once again, she made Nebraska’s 3-point season record list with 64 3-pointers giving her a total of 187 3-pointers going into her senior season. Her list of accomplishments continued and included: Class A Top 10 3pt Percentage Stat Leader (3rd at 41.2%), Class A Top 10 Free Throw Stat Leader (3rd at 81.8%), Millard West Top 10 Single Season Record – 3pt Percentage (41.2%), Millard West Top 10 Single Season Record – Free Throw Percentage (81.8%) and Millard West Top 10 District Scoring Leader (23.5 Average). She was selected to the Class A State Basketball Tournament Team and Class A State Basketball Tournament Scoring Leaders. Selections also included the Class A Metro 2nd Team and then Class A Omaha World-Herald, Lincoln Journal Star, and AP All State 2nd Teams.

As a student, Marisa is a four year Academic Letter Winner (3.7 GPA) and a member of the Millard West Yearbook staff. She also enjoys volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and has helped raise funds for both Crohn’s Disease and the Susan B. Komen Foundation. Her free time is spent at the gym working to further improve her game as well as quality time with family and friends.

Marisa has committed to play basketball at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. She is the daughter of Zachary and Kimaree Lowe, of Omaha, and has an older sister, Alexis, a younger brother, Austin (15), and a beloved shitzu, Truffles Oreo
