John Bartels Hiscock  |  Age 16
Bennington High School

John Bartels Hiscock, better known as Bart, has been shooting hoops since he was a toddler.

What started as a child’s game in the basement eventually became something much more for Bart. He continued to play as an elementary student and in the fifth grade began playing competitively with the Omaha Grizzlies organization and continued to do so through eighth grade. During the summer, Bart plays for the Omaha Sports Academy (OSA) Crusaders National Team.

As a student at Bennington High School, Bart is a member of the varsity basketball team. For the 2013 – 14 season, he averaged 15.9 points per game and 11.7 rebounds — placing him in first for Class B players in the state. At the end of the season, he was named to the EMC all-conference team, the All Omaha area team by the Omaha World-Herald, and to the AP All-State 2nd team for Class B.

Bart and his parents credit his coaches for helping shape him into the player he is today. He has had great coaches throughout his basketball career, starting with his grandfather, John Bartels, whom he is named after. Bart’s athletic skills also carry over onto the football field in the fall.

Off the court, Bart participates on the Bennington High School leadership council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is a member of the National Honor Society. He sings with the a cappella group Blue Rendezvous, as well as the concert choir. His studies take priority and he carries a perfect grade point of 4.0.

Bart also enjoys fostering a love for basketball and football in younger kids. He works at Bennington youth camps helping children in the area learn more about both sports that he loves and helping to shape future Bennington teams.

Bart is the son of Brett and Julie Hiscock, of Bennington, and has a younger sister, Alexandra (15).
